English by the Numbers: Scope & Sequence

Each unit includes a brief oral presentation followed by practice activities that increase listening comprehension.

Unit 1 Numbers, Fractions and Decimals
This unit introduces basic expressions for talking about numbers and quantities. You will learn how to talk about very large and very small numbers.
Unit 2 Numerical Operations and Numerical Relations
Practice English expressions for describing formulas and other numerical relationships, such as multiples and square roots. Learn to compare quantities and to talk about differences and percentages.
Unit 3 Graphs and Related Changes
Learn expressions for describing increases, decreases, and other changes involving amount and time.
Unit 4 Line Graphs
Learn how to describe clearly and concisely information presented in graphs, describing individual pieces of data as well as changes over time.
Unit 5 Bar Graphs
Express information from bar graphs and make comparisons from the data presented.
Unit 6 Pie Graphs
Express information from pie graphs and make comparisons from the data presented.
Unit 7 Probabilities, Logical relationships, and Review
Study the language of logical relationships, probability, equations, and changes through time.
